Maringá Airport Opens Public Tender for Meteorology Technician Due to Growth
The continuous expansion of operations at Maringá Regional Airport has led to the opening of a public tender for one Meteorology Technician position. The application period begins on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, and runs until August 18, 2025. The objective test is scheduled for September 7, 2025, organized by the State University of Western Paraná (Unioeste) through its General Coordination of Tenders and Selective Processes (Cogeps). The full public notice is available online.
Why the New Hire?
The airport’s increasing activity necessitates additional technical support in aeronautical meteorology. In June alone, Maringá Airport recorded 79,553 passengers and 346 flights, a significant increase from the 66,138 passengers and 304 flights in the same month last year.
Currently, the airport boasts a team of meteorologists and a state-of-the-art automated meteorological station. This new hiring aims to meet the escalating operational demand, driven by recent developments such as Azul’s resumption of seven frequencies, Gol’s three new flights to Curitiba, and Latam’s consolidated daily flight to Guarulhos, now operated with the larger Airbus A321 (224 seats) instead of the A320 (182 seats). The airport anticipates a daily flow of 800 passengers between 5 AM and 7 AM.
Gustavo Vieira, Superintendent of Maringá Regional Airport, stated, “We are preparing for a new phase of the Airport, which demands structural and human investments. The hiring of another meteorology technician will help ensure safety and efficiency amid the accelerated growth of operations.”
Requirements and Compensation
The position requires a technical course in meteorology and a technical specialization in aeronautical meteorology, with training recognized by the Brazilian Air Force Command (Comando da Aeronáutica). The vacancy is also open to Persons with Disabilities (PCDs).
The weekly workload is 36 hours. The gross monthly remuneration offered is R$ 5,888.46, supplemented by a food voucher of R$ 1,359.59, a meal voucher of R$ 44.16 per day worked, and a culture voucher of R$ 50 per month.
Record-Breaking First Semester
From January to June of this year, Maringá Airport handled 421,941 passengers across 1,944 flights, marking its most active first semester in history. This represents a 13.82% increase compared to the same period in 2024, which saw 370,710 arrivals and departures. Maringá currently leads among inland Paraná airports, with 22 more weekly flights than Londrina.
